Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime location, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, contains 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous luxuries on top of the casino, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
