Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino gambling is not legal. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that contains numerous amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
